Dr. John Costandi is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who graduated from Boston University School of Dental Medicine, where he was nominated and inducted into the BU Chapter of the OKU Honor Society. He completed his training at Columbia University/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. During his time at Columbia, he earned his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, completed a one-year internship in General Surgery and served as Chief Resident during his final year of training. He received the Interdepartmental Resident of the Month Award in recognition of his compassionate nature and exemplary patient care.

After completing his surgical training, Dr. Costandi joined Weill Cornell Medical College as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. During this time, he trained and mentored future oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the full scope of the specialty.

Following his tenure at Weill Cornell, he relocated with his family to Southern California. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the USC School of Dentistry, where he continues to teach both predoctoral dental students and oral and maxillofacial surgery residents. In addition to his academic role, he maintains a private practice at multiple locations throughout Southern California, providing high-quality surgical care.

Dr. Costandi has been published in peer-reviewed journals, abstracts and book chapters, and has presented his work at national meetings. His clinical interests include bone grafting, implant surgery and the extraction of impacted teeth. He is an active member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association®, International Team for Implantology and the Academy of Osseointegration.

In his free time, he enjoys trying new restaurants and watching sports. However, his happiest moments are spent with his wife and three children.
